The girls and I just got inside from a long, slow walk. Super nice and sunny. Avery loved it. Ella cried until she fell asleep in my arms. My arms went numb. It was still nice.

more making
I usually find that February hits me like a brick in the middle of winter. It's a struggle, most days, to find the ounce of will necessary to unload the dishwasher or to decide what to make for supper, but I have been finding it surprisingly easy to shirk all responsibilities in favor of knocking out quick and easy craft projects. These are the latest makings around here:
: Some simple decorations for Ella's little bedroom.
: A handful of felt ravioli pasta for Avery's play kitchen. The bag was Avery's request, to make it more authentic.
: A little set of sandwich fixings with two slices of bread. Inspiration hit at midnight last night.
Avery's been happy with her own little project this week making beaded necklaces and bracelets. She's also been busy all week coloring craft foam with a glue stick and snipping it all into tiny pieces, but that's not as photo worthy.
And this little peanut has been making teeth, although I haven't actually seen any so I'm just taking her word for it.

our town
Avery and I have been working on something I've been calling "the week-long town". In an attempt to keep her busy for even a teensy bit I drew out a map (loosely based on our town), got out her paints and let her at it.
She surprisingly kept adding to it all week long, a blotch of paint here, a smudge of paint there, a perfectly filled in house here (okay that was me). Then we added stop signs and motored her shiny blue car all over this town.
Today's installment was a batch of little neighborhood kids, each with their own agenda of where they might want to go and each stuck with a bit of tape on their backs.
My favorite part is the bear cave. Who doesn't want a bear cave in their town?

tap dance
Avery was given a hand-me-down set of dance clothes and tap shoes yesterday - thank you Carlana and Jayla! She was so pumped. Carlana took her along to watch Jayla in dance class a few days ago and it's been a pretty big topic of inspiration ever since. It made me wish we'd put her in dance this year, but then she proved that it can be pretty fun done home-style, too. Shirley Temple provided a quick demo video, we put on some kicky music and she went to town. Enjoy!
making
Yesterday was a good day for making ...
:: a sleepy dolly. Shipped her off that afternoon to a baby in Budapest.
:: chocolate muffins (recipe from here). Perfect for a snowy day.
:: progress. Baby is getting so strong and keeps her head up nice and long now.
... paper cupcakes. I found a free printable here and while I was still cutting Avery was already getting her little cupcake groove on. It's actually keeping her occupied longer than I thought it might.
... plans. Baby needs a new hat.
