Before the rain started to fall today we got outside for some spring yarding. Last night Levi roto-tilled our veggie garden and raked it all into neat beds for me. We have our seeds and tomato plants and now we'll just wait until the rain clears out. Avery busied herself with some pre-rain watering - quite pleased that she figured out how to use the sprayer. (See that little tongue? Snap!)
This is Sprite (our neighbour Judy's cat) and she's been Avery's best friend for the past few days. The other day Avery was out playing in the yard with Levi and had dragged her blow-up pool out from the garage (where it stayed inflated all winter - ahem). She was happily playing make-believe swim time and was so cute as she earnestly called kitty over to "come swim with me!". The day after that she took a long walk with Sprite to the end of the block, and I think it's that this kitty doesn't run away from her that has her more smitten than usual.
The mister took some time this morning to prepare the back corner of our yard for a major clean-up and clear-away. We're hiring someone to come cart all the junk and mess away since we and our mini van can't figure out how to do it. This is our one big project for this summer and hopefully soon it will be a tidy little corner with no more weedy jungle, cracked old bumper, scrap wood or junk buckets. It's all part of the spring fever to de-clutter ... everywhere. I need more white space.
Little things I'm looking forward to:::: the possibility of raspberries (buried in the back corner mess)
:: blooming flowers
:: seeing the baby swallows that we think are hiding in our piano piece bird house
:: plotting and planting where each veggie seed will grow
:: using our screen porch - thanks to new chairs that won't pinch our bums
:: eating more from the ground, less from cans, more from the bbq, less from the oven
:: beauty and color ... finally

Your new camera is amazing - these pics are gorgeous!
